This proposal for a redesign of the AOL.com homepage came right in the period before the transition to Mobile had even really started. As such, it was designed for the wider desktop screens that everyone was on where "above the fold" still meant something and navigation was done exclusively with a mouse.

That said, it makes use of compact, multi-function modules and carousels. Features that are still common on mobile today. (They're just scaled, larger, into a single column now.)

With its myriad details, this one took a loooong time to complete. The re-organization of the navigation and layout alone took days, as I recall.

It got good traction when I presented it, but in the end, they ended up going with a different proposal. I still found the experience of laying out something so complex well worth my time.
