My main goal with this redesign was to more intuitively show the user how their baby's growth was progressing. I felt that the myriad of lines and numbers on the at-that-time current version were an un-necessary visual distraction.
My solution was to distill the chart down to a single pair of bands separated by the "average" line. Pretty simple.
Also, one of my peeves is static information on a page that the user only needs to read once and, from that point on, just takes up space. I felt that the description of how percentiles work fell squarely into that category. My solution was to place it a level down. Decluttering the screen, but leaving it easily accessible if needed.
I originally began this redesign before we had the ability to store historical data, ie., to chart growth over time. My design included this.
Although the main styling changes wern't made, owing to the development points involved, we did get that data functionailty, which was a huge win for our users. (And engagement!)
